The Goonj Foundation exists to support the growth of Goonj’s impact in India and globally
For more than 26 years, Goonj has worked to build an equitable ecosystem that fosters dignity, strength, and sustenance between resource-rich and resource-poor communities. By reframing urban surplus and rural wisdom as two powerful, alternative currencies, Goonj facilitates a unique barter model that addresses deeply interlinked challenges—including urban-rural inequality, disaster displacement, menstrual health, seasonal migration, and climate vulnerability.
The Goonj Foundation, established in 2022 as a US 501(C)(3) entity, exists to play a critical role in scaling this model across India and around the world.

An IIT Roorkee and IIM Bangalore alum, Amit switched to the social development sector in 2019 and has helped organizations like The/Nudge and Parivaar with their fundraising, communications and M&E capabilities
Navneet Chugh
Treasurer
Navneet S. Chugh is founder and Managing Partner of Chugh, LLP, a global corporate, tax, immigration, and litigation firm with over 120 lawyers. A JD and CPA, he also holds an MBA from USC and completed Harvard Executive Leadership. He founded TiE SoCal, NASABA, SABA‑SoCal, and serves on multiple nonprofit boards.
