We exist to ensure Goonj will reach its fullest potential to transform how social impact work is done
— across India and around the world.
The Goonj way is built on the belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute-time, wisdom, skills, labor, money, or material. Across urban and rural communities, people step up in ways that make sense for them, creating a collective force for change.
There are a variety of initiatives that you can volunteer with:
- Events – Join a group in hosting a Chaupal in your city (the Bay Area chapter is looking for volunteers now for their Chaupal in Aug 2026) or host a Bridge Builders Dinner (we will support with all the preparation and logistics)
- Workplace Giving Campaigns – dozens of workplaces, including Google, Salesforce, Microsoft, Nvidia, JP Morgan Chase etc run workplace giving campaigns to allow for employees to contribute financially and taking advantage of their employers’ double or triple matching to multiply their contribution.
- High School Clubs – Involve the next generation by helping them start or run Goonj Sustainability Clubs at their High School. Goonj Clubs help students get a hands-on understanding of sustainability and the Goonj Way by running projects with recycled/upcycled material (Green by Goonj), taking the Bridge Builders’ Fellowship, and so much more
- Start or Join a Chapter – meet and work with a group of like-minded supporters of Goonj in hosting events, organizing trips to India, involving the next generation, and so much more.
